~ Review ~ GF Pro Children's Toy Multimedia Learning Tablet

I received this at a discount for my honest and unbiased review.

I must say when this first arrived I was not impressed. It's basically a tablet looking piece of plastic with a big sticker. But after letting my son try it I was quite a bit happier. The buttons on this do work, letters, songs, numbers, games, etc. The on and off button works, and so while the materials are lacking for the cheap cost I think it's not a bad deal. My 1 and 3 year old sons have been playing with it for about a week. I was worried they would push through the sticker but that has not happened. It does exactly what you would expect it too.It is loud, but teaches them a number of different things like any other mini tablet or computer would do. When it arrived there was no screw in the battery cover, so that's a real flaw as any toddler can pull that off, yank out the batteries and loose them. It requires three AA batteries which are not included.

What all does it include? It has modes for a number or different things. Letters, Words, Spelling, Numbers, an Alphabet song and a quiz. There is an on and off button, and volume buttons. You will want those as it's VERY loud when they first turn it on. My only other real complaint is that my kids wanted to turn it on, on the side like a normal tablet but this one has a on/off button on the sticker screen. All in all while I would not call this a high quality toy, it is an inexpensive version of one and a much nicer price.

Ok first things first this app is based on Montessori learning Meaning your kids get a say, they get a choice in how they learn. This app has so many great features. It is pretty simple to get around in. My 2 year old picked it up quickly. He loves the tracing features and used this for awhile. I think he will be writing in no time. The characters are fun and it is all bright and kept him interested. We all know with a two year old that is not easy. The animation is very well done compared to most kids apps. There is a ton of games they can play, and each one teaches something differently, thus pulling in the Montessori education style. If you have more than one kid that will be playing you can make other profiles for them. I love that since I have 8 kids. This is basically like a worksheet app. We just love it, perfect for travel, the doctors or in the car.

Bugs, Shapes and Robots Face Paint for Toddlers

Another wonderful app for toddlers. We just loved the animations and colors of this app. Nikolas' favorite part is the fireflies you collect. I can not wait to see how he reacts when he gets to let them go free. Again I think his favorite thing was the tracing. He is pretty good with a pen so I know he will be writing in no time with the help of this app. This one does shapes, and quite a bunch of shapes way more than just circle, square and triangle. I appreciate that they did some extra ones. This one also allows for multiple profiles for other kids and you can track what your kids have down on the app. This app is just fun!

~Review~ Happy Meadow Farm Clutching Puzzle by HABA ~2015 Parents Super Guide~

First off let me say I have owned a number of HABA toys in the past. The quality of HABA toys is exceptional. They are all very well made and last for years. So even though I just received the Happy Meadow Farm Clutching Puzzle I can guarantee it will last my sons many years to come.

My son Nikolas is two, and he is in love with farm life and farm animals. This Happy Meadow Farm Clutching Puzzle was the perfect choice for him. The instant it arrived the house was filled with his happy little laugh as he grabbed each piece and told me what it was. His favorite animals are chickens so I have heard little chicken clucking noises for days now. It's been a wonderful learning tool for him. After just a short period of time he was telling me names and where each animal was located. If you ask where the horse is he pulls off the door and points and then says horse and tries to neigh. It continues that way for the cows, cat and birds.

I do have to say I am not normally a fan of puzzles. They end up everywhere and once the pieces are gone that's it. The pieces on this puzzle how ever are not going to be lost anytime soon. They are thick chunky wood and each has a large round ball on top for easy grabbing. Both Nikolas and the baby can easily grab the puzzle parts. There is not too many pieces but enough to keep a toddler occupied. The wooden board itself is about a half of an inch thick and could not be easily damaged. It's very sturdy for toddlers, who we all know are hard on toys.

The colors on the Happy Meadow Farm Clutching Puzzle are bright and vibrant. The detailing is fun and chunky just like the puzzle itself. Each person, animal or thing is easily recognizable by little one's. He is learning animal sounds and colors quite rapidly from the puzzle. He has been attached to the Happy Meadow Farm Clutching Puzzle from day one. I think this will be his favorite toy for quite awhile.

~Review~ Educational Insights Games and Toys

I am in love with Educational Insights. A whole company devoted to helping kids learn and have fun while doing it. What a selection they have. You can get things for any age. They have also won awards for many of their toys and games. There isn't a better place to get something for your children. It's one of my favorite sites. I was sent two different toys and a game for review. My kids loved everything as you will see.

Our first toy was Dinosaur Puppet-On-A-Stick™, Set of 3. These have been all over my house for 3 weeks now. Everyday I've seen my boys running around playing dinosaur. We've had puppet show's, dinosaur chases and the favorite is the "Growl" around game. Basically that involves the older boys scaring their two year old brother from around the couch or corner. He just laughs and laughs. What I love is Nikolas is learning colors and quite a big vocabulary from this dinosaur play. He was not interested in learning his colors at all before. Now everything he picks up he asks or tells us the color. He loves trying to scare his older brothers with his growls like they do to him.

Welcome to The Riddle Show. This is gonna be a long running hit in our house. My boys are both jokesters and they have been playing with this since the day it arrived. This microphone is so awesome. It's programmed with jokes, answers, noises, riddles and tongue twisters or you can use it as a regular microphone. I have one son who tells a ton of jokes. So he used it as a microphone. My other son is not as sure of himself so he uses the part that talks for you. This has been an encouraging for him. He doesn't feel left out anymore. What a wonderful tool for self esteem.

Last but certainly NOT least is The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Card Game! This game was a blast. We played for hours upon hours. Photo's just don't do it justice so I did a short video of a round...

As you can see this is a fast paced and FUN game. Nikolas who is 2 was saying Sneaky Snacky the entire game, and learning new words and colors. We play a lot of games in our house and this is a new favorite. This game is for preschoolers but honestly it's fun for all ages. My 2 year old wanted to sit and play all day, and the 9,12, and 16 year old agreed. It's just a good time fun game.

My house is full of children, eight to be exact. Seven of my children love books. They will sit all day and read. We have more books than we do toys, and have since they were babies. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard about BabyLit. BabyLit are books for babies and small children inspired by the classics. You can find books like The Secret Garden, Huckleberry Finn, Jane Eyre, and Anna Karenina. Most of the books are board books , but they also have picture books and hardcovers. My children (and me and dad) love all of the classics so this was super exciting.

I chose Edgar Gets Ready for Bed, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” as the book I wanted to read. My first book the post office destroyed. I was so sad because you can not believe how awesome it looked. The gracious people at BabyLit not only replaced it but also sent me Edgar and the Tattle-Tale Heart, Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart,”. Now that is awesome customer service. I had kids fighting over these books. From 16 years old down to my 2 year old and no I am not kidding. My kids think these are the coolest books they have ever seen and want to start a collection. I am "NOT" complaining.

Edgar Gets Ready for Bed is so funny. The book is all about how Edgar doesn't want to finish up dinnertime, clean up and bedtime. His answer to everything is NEVERMORE. He is very contrary and needs his mom to get him settled down. One of the reasons this book appeals to me is Edgar and my 2 year old Nikolas could be bosom buddies. They have the same grumpy attitude until the books come out at bedtime.

As you can see my 9 year old Thomas quickly latched onto Edgar and the Tattle-Tale Heart. Thomas is dyslexic so he struggles with reading. He is the only one of the 8 kids that doesn't love to read. As you can imagine I was thrilled to see him interested in a book. Both of these books are on the top of his favorite's list now. It also gave him a whole new understanding of his older sisters love for Edgar Allan Poe. In Edgar and the Tattle-Tale Heart, mischievous Edgar breaks a statue and you find out about the lesson that he learns.

I have not been as impressed with a children's book in a very long time. These are both wonderful books filled with stories from the classics they are based upon. They instill a love of learning from the youngest baby to even us grown adults. They illustrations are beautiful and not in the least bit overwhelming. I can not wait to get my hands on each and every one. The next one's on our list are Don Quixote and Dracula.
