You gotta admit this brush is just fun to look at. I am so glad it works on top of being fun. My son has super curly, ringlet hair and hates to have it brushed. I decided to let him play with this one first. He loved the fact that it had a mirror on the back and looked in it for awhile. The mirror is bigger than your average compact mirror and can be used for a lot of things.

The bristles are kind of jagged and all different colors. I let me son try it first and he brushed as well as he can at two. Then I brushed his hair. He did not move, flinch or cry and it seemed to feel good to him. Most brushes make him tear up. I always feel so bad, but not with this brush. It is now his favorite brush and then one he picks when it is time to brush his hair.

~Review~ Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil

Who has problems with dry flaky scalp? Do you, because I do. So when I was asked to try the Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil I was glad to. That's what I wanted it for. I just add a drop with my shampoo and voila...cleans up my scalp and my dandruff goes away.

This Tea Tree Oil has a lot of other uses than that. Some other great uses are for cleaning. Just add a few drops to a spray bottle of water and your have an All Natural Cleaner that won't make you sick. I love to use oils as a natural cleanser. It's also great for all sorts of skin issues.

How about stress? Aren't all of our lives filled with stress? I know mine is with eight kids and medical problems. Just a sniff of Tea Tree Oil helps to calm you down. I've used it for over a year now when I get over stressed of anxious. It's helped with panic attacks also.

~Review~ Smooth Viking Beard Conditioner, Balm & Oil

My husband really enjoyed the Smooth Viking Beard Conditioner we got to try. He has tried a few Beard Conditioners now. This one was by far the largest tin he's had. For sure it's the most bang for your buck. While the conditioner is not as hard as a dry oil, he has found that the best way to use the wax you begin by warming it up, in your pocket, rolling a ball of it in your hand, submerging it in warm water, etc. It's very easy to apply just put a little in your hands and pull through your mustache. It is not greasy or oily at all, it's just very moisturizing. Think Shea Butter for your beard. Smooth Viking Beard Conditioner is made with Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba, Beeswax and Pure Essential Oil. It smells very nice and not too strong and not girly smelling. My husband really liked the smell of this one.

We also got to try the Smooth Viking Beard Balm. It's very similar to the Conditioner only thicker/harder. So once again the best way to use it us to warm it up before use. I think the best way is with warm water or scraping it off into your hand and rolling it until it's lighter. This one is made with Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, and Castor Oil. It will make your beard look thicker and leave you with more fullness.

Lastly we got to try the Smooth Viking Beard Oil. This one has a very manly scent and requires very little. This one will work as a detangler for your beard. It will leave it soft and snarl free. He likes to use this and then comb it. This one is made with Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Moroccan Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Pure Essential Oil

~Review~ Xtava Auto Rotating Curling Iron & Infrared Flat Iron

I am just in love with all the Xtava products, and these are no exception. All of them are well made, top quality items. Sturdy and Stylish! I own 2 curling irons, a flat iron, and two blow dryers from Xtava. I think that says it all.

The Xtava Auto Rotating Curling Iron is perfect for those big wavy sexy curl hair days. You literally place you hair in and wait. There are a ton of heat settings making this perfect for super fine or super thick hair. No scorching your thin, fine hair and enough heat to hold in your thick hair. I have uber thick hair, the kind they charge double for at the salon. This curled my hair in minutes and lasted all day long. It has a very long 8 foot cord so it's good to use in the bathroom or the bedroom. The cord also swivels so no hopping around trying to move and not mess up the cord.

I also have the Xtava Infrared Flat Iron and Hair Straightener. This is such a nice product. My hair is wavy so I use this quite often. It doesn't get your hair too hot and it comes out soft, smooth and with no frizz or flyaway hairs. This also has programmable heat settings from 265F-445F. Perfect again for any kind of hair. This one also has the long 8 foot cord with swivel technology. LOVE it! Will never buy from another company again.

~Review~ Xtava PRO 2200W Classic HairDryer & Collapsible Diffuser

The Xtava Pro 2200W Classic Hair Dryer is literally a dream come true for hair like mine! It is one of the nicest and best made quality hair dryers I have ever owned. I have bought a second hair dryer, two curling irons and a flat iron from Xtava since receiving this! If that isn't a good review for them then I don't know what is.

5 Hair Health Tips for New Moms

These days, it’s easy to find information about hair care. The challenge is how to sort fact from fiction. Madison Reed is here to help! 1. Can I color my hair while pregnant? It’s interesting to note that the American College of OB/GYN has no recommendations about coloring hair during pregnancy, yet many women are concerned. I chose to color my hair in all three trimesters with all four of my children. I wish that Madison Reed had been available back then. I would have been much more comfortable using Madison Reed Radiant Color Kit instead of the traditional smelly, harsh dyes. Everyone’s pregnancy is different, so always consult with your personal physician. I feel Madison Reed products provide a better option and a better experience.

2. Why do some new moms lose so much hair? Don’t worry, this is normal. Hair grows, rests, and sheds in cycles. During pregnancy, higher estrogen levels alter the hair cycles. The hair continues to grow, while the resting and shedding phases are paused. That’s why hair is longer, thicker, and fuller while pregnant. After you deliver, the shedding and resting phases resume. All of the hair that would have been shed during the pregnancy can be shed all at once. It can be quite alarming losing clumps of hair! This is normal and within a few months, the hair will return to a normal cycle.

3. Is it true that hair can stretch 30% longer when wet? Yes! Hair is made of 90% proteins that are held together by chemical bonds. When wet, these bonds are temporarily broken, allowing the hair to stretch and weaken. The bonds reform when dry and shrink back to normal.

4. How can I prevent damage to wet hair? Because the bonds that hold strands together are temporarily broken, wet hair is vulnerable to damage. Follow these three simple rules to protect your hair. Use a wide-tooth comb or detangling wet brush. Avoid a tight ponytail while your hair is wet. When the hair dries and shrinks back, the ponytail could cause breakage. Wait until your hair is 80-90% dry before styling it.

5. Why do some people grow longer hair than others? There is a limit to how long each person’s hair can grow, called the terminal length. The terminal length depends on a predetermined growing cycle. It usually is 3-5 years but can be as long as 10! The longer your growing cycle, the longer your hair can get. Considering hair typically grows 6 inches per year, 10 years of growing is really long hair! While you can’t change genetics, you can protect your long hair by keeping it healthy and strong. Take care when you style your hair and use healthier hair products that can help prevent and repair damage to the hair.

I guess I am not really a "girly" girl. I don't have long, polished painted nails. I don't normally dye, tint, highlight or style my hair even. I have 6 kids and 2 babies under two...I don't have time for that girly stuff. Did I mention I work at home, and am always covered in paint? So when I was offered a hair dye sample from Madison Reed to try and review my first thought was Me, your kidding right? My daughter of course was like yes mom do it!

I'd never heard of Madison Reed. The site is fun, you get to fill out a find your perfect color survey and the they tell you what colors would suit you best. Your free to choose any color they have though. I chose one they suggested. I'm glad I did.

Wow am I impressed. I got my box very quickly, in fact it came so fast I thought it was something else. Fed Ex had really mashed it up, so I am sorry I don't have a photo of how pretty the box was. I wondered why the box was so big. This was no little box of hair dye, it was as big as a laptop.

Here is what was in the box, it was like opening a gift. On either side are very detailed photo instructions with good sized print. No eyeglasses needed! (That's the part that got all mashed up) Can you believe what's all included? You get 2 pair of gloves. They were sturdy gloves, no ripping! One for coloring and one for rinsing. No messing with already used gloves. A package of Barrier Cream. Honestly you didn't really need this, the dye washed right off the skin. But I like having it just in case. Since I am no expert I had hair dye everywhere. A cleansing cloth for oops. I had a lot of oops spots, even on my elbow. No I don't know how, ha ha! A cap to hold your hair in place and keep the heat it. Also nice, no mess on your clothes and towels.

Your hair color cream, which is free of harsh chemicals. This was why I finally agreed to try it. Full of the good stuff like Argan Oil, Keratin, and Ginseng Root. The conditioning activator with a good sized bottle and easy screw off cap. Mixing was a breeze, seriously. My 16 year old did it...piece of cake she says. Here is my FAVORITE part, nourishing, color enhancing Shampoo + Conditioner. Yes you heard me right, they provide you with shampoo and conditioner. Really good quality stuff too (and I can say that because I worked in a salon). These smelled wonderful. My daughter asked if we could buy more. I can't begin to tell you how soft and smooth the hair felt after using this. Today the hair is shiny, and so soft...feels like silk. Lastly there is a QR code which can give you discounts and FREE product!

~Review~ Just for Men AutoStop

My gracious husband Don volunteered to try out Just For Men AutoStop for me to review. We chose Real Black for the closest match to his color. Don has some grey in his sideburns and his neckline. Just For Men AutoStop is used to treat 25-50% grey in your hair. I would say Don has about 20-25% grey.

The application was super easy. You basically put the comb attachment on the tube of dye, squeeze a little out and then comb where you have grey in your hair. That's it. It glides right through your hair. Don has exceptionally thick hair, and we had no issues getting it to breeze through!

After 10 minutes it's time to shampoo and rinse. I am happy to say that even though thy provide gloves, there is no real need for them. Unlike other hair dyes I have used, this one did not stain your hands or skin on your neck and face. It rinsed right off and left no black residue. No ruined towels or clothing. That's a huge plus in my eyes!

Here are the results, No grey showing at all! Yes he does need a haircut!

We were both pleased and although Don would not ever use hair dye normally (he doesn't mind the grey) he said he would recommend it to anyone who wanted to give it a try. We both give it a thumbs up!
